This was the first of a number of polls we'll be introducing over the next several months. The object is to find out who is the Star Trek Babe for all time. Because there have been so many, we'll be breaking down the polls by series and movies so that the number is not overwhelming. The Star Trek TOS babes are first, listed in six sets of polls with the winner and runner-up of each poll advancing to a run-off at the end. The winner of the run-off will advance to go head-to-head with the winners from other series and movies.

And here's the start with the 1966 half of the very first season. When our webmaster saw the pictures I'd prepared for him to present, this is what he had to say: "I was in my early teens when Star Trek first showed. I remember some of these women like it was yesterday and I'd been down on the planets with them myself. I still lust for them today! However, in retrospect, I must admit that I was rather impressionable back then".

It seems that there are quite a number of Star Trek fans among our visitors as our first Star Trek Babes poll garnered the most votes to-date. The results indicate there were definite opinions about who you found appealing, with two clear winners and five who gave it their best. The winner was Sherry Jackson with Sally Kellerman a close second. They will move onto the final poll of Star Trek - The Original Series later this year. The winner of that poll will move onto the poll for all-time favourite Star Trek Babe. Interesting notes about the results:

• Grace Lee Whitney was the favourite of the recurring characters, with Nichelle Nichols coming in second
• Majel Barrett was the only Babe to receive no votes
• Mudd's Women showed very poorly in the results, despite the fact they were the epitome of feminine beauty

I hope to eventually create a page devoted to all the Star Trek Babes with links to their Star Trek pages as well as other sites that tell about their careers beyond Star Trek. And of course, keep tuned... because, between some different polls, we'll be moving through all the years and all the shows. You'll see a lot more Star Trek Babes then!

The poll for September was concerned with the second half of the first season. Episodes during this period included what is generally considered the best episode of The Original Series - The City on the Edge of Forever.

I was initially surprised that this poll didn't receive as much attention as the first Star Trek poll and the other recent polls. I wondered if it was due to people wanting to enjoy the last of the summer weather or if the poll was just less interesting. As I started to prepare for the end of the poll, I checked a number of Search Engines for sites of the possible winners and I think I found my answer. Even though I reviewed up to 200 sites for each babe I haven't found any that meet my quality standards. These actresses just don't have Star Trek fans as dedicated as those in the previous poll. We'll just have to keep looking.

Anyway, we did have a clear winner and a runner-up. Barbara Babcock came out well ahead of the others with almost 1/3 of the votes. I'm more familiar with Barbara from Hill Street Blues. The runner-up is Jill Ireland, but only by a single vote over the next two babes. Jill was married to Charles Bronson and we lost her to cancer in 1990. Tied for third are Joan Collins and Venita Wolf. As you may know, Joan became the first Bitch of night time soaps. Venita Wolf was a minor player in The Squire of Gothos, but she did receive attention in this poll.

We'll do the next Star Trek Babe poll in a couple of months and put up babes from more recent series. Those of you who like the old series can rest assured we'll be coming back to TOS babes in the near future.
